Restore Facial Volume with Restylane

Restylane

The very shape of our face changes as we age and mature. Some of this has to do with changes to our bone structure and the amount of muscle tissue that lies beneath the skin. However, a great deal of it is the result of changes to the skin itself. The older we get, the less moisture is retained within the skin layers, and the amount of collagen in the skin decreases as well. Our facial skin contours can become sharper, and hollows become noticeable. Smile lines and crow’s feet appear near the corners of the mouth and elsewhere. Dermal fillers can help restore a more youthful appearance, and Restylane® is one of the most popular injectable fillers used today.

Restylane® adds volume by plumping the skin surface. It’s a long-lasting solution to the problem of brittle, sunken skin that shows marionette lines and larger creases. This may be the perfect treatment for you!

Why Use Dermal Fillers?

Injectable fillers generally yield positive results that last for up to a year. The skin is not resurfaced, so there’s no chance of unwanted hyperpigmentation as a side effect. The skin is not ablated with dermal fillers nor is it subjected to heat energy. Many individuals have adverse reactions to these types of cosmetic treatments.

Restylane® is a gel containing hyaluronic acid. This is a natural substance produced by our bodies. Concentrating this acid solution in areas where added volume is needed results in a plumping effect caused by water attraction. Therefore, Restylane® is a non-surgical means to smooth the skin and eliminate worrisome smile lines and crow’s feet.

How We Perform Restylane® Injections

We first consult with the client and examine the facial features closely. We’re looking for the reason behind creases, folds, and seemingly collapsed skin surface. If we feel that Restylane® is the ideal solution, we’ll set an appointment for treatment on a date that is suitable for the client.

Restylane® is a rather thin gel in which are suspended the hyaluronic acid particles. We inject it at strategic locations, and the gel settles down into the lower dermal layers and in the spaces between the skin and subcutaneous tissues.

The acid immediately begins to attract and hold water molecules. After multiple days, the skin looks more smooth, and hollows have disappeared. Because the skin is tighter, the small wrinkles have become far less noticeable.

Restylane® contains what is termed NASHA, an acronym for non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid. This means that the acid doesn’t come from animal sources. Also, the acid is eventually neutralized and is flushed from the body. There’s no dangerous buildup. The injection procedure can be repeated safely many times, and most of our clients have this cosmetic treatment performed at least once a year.
