Tattoo Removal | Questions for Your Technician

Tattoo Removal

With the increasing popularity of permanent tattoos, doctors see an equally large increase in demand for tattoo removal. Whether a mistake was made on the part of the artist or you just plain don’t like the image anymore, you no longer face having to live with a permanent mistake. Perfect Skin Center offers a new and innovative way to safely and affordably remove any unwanted tattoos.

What Is Tattoo Removal?

Tattoos are essentially thousands of injected ink particles that sit suspended under the skin. While natural skin turnover may remove smaller foreign particles, these ink pigments are too large to be removed by this natural process, and so doctors are forced to turn to alternative processes to remove them.

How Does It Work?

A specially designed laser sends pulses of light energy into the skin. As the energy strikes the ink pigment trapped in the skin, the ink particles break apart, creating tinier pieces that are absorbed and flushed away by your body’s immune system. They use different wavelengths for different colors of ink, effectively breaking down more ink pigment with every treatment. Treatments offer total tattoo removal or the option to remove just a part of it, allowing for later revision of the image.

Is It Safe?

Yes! When performed by a certified and experienced technician, tattoo removal is very safe. We will not perform the treatment without first having your medical history and current health assessed by an experienced and knowledgeable technician.

Does It Hurt?

Laser tattoo removal is often compared to a similar feeling of receiving the tattoo.  The laser itself does not damage the skin and leaves no marks or scars, leaving patients free to resume their daily activities immediately after the treatment. Any scarring left on the skin would have resulted from the tattooing process itself and not removal.

How Long Until I Can Expect Results?

The tattoo removal process relies heavily on the body’s ability to flush away the broken down ink particles, and since everyone’s body heals differently, the speed at which your tattoo fades varies from person to person. While some images may only take a single treatment to fade, most patients require several treatments several weeks apart to remove the image completely. Over the course of a few weeks, the body works to flush out the particles, gradually fading the tattoo over time.

Is It Affordable?

Price for removal is dependent on a variety of factors such as the size of the area being treated, the color of the ink pigment, and the number of treatments needed to remove the tattoo completely. However, once the tattoo is gone, it is gone forever, so if you hate the tattoo removing it will be a worthwhile expense.
