BOTOX® uses a purified protein solution. This helps to improve collagen and elastin production in your skin. Elastin and collagen are responsible for the laxity and firmness of your skin. As we get older, our body produces less and less of these substances, leading to loose skin and wrinkles. The procedure works by relaxing the frown lines in the middle of your forehead. These are the lines that sit right above your nose.
BOTOX® does not take effect immediately. It will usually take several days for you to see the full effects of the procedure. It works by relaxing the muscles that produce those frown lines. So for the next three months, you will not frown as harshly as you did before having the injections.
You will still be able to express happiness, sadness, elation, and surprise in the same way that you were prior to getting treatments. The only difference is that your facial muscles will not contract with the same severity, so they will not transpose their movements onto your skin.
BOTOX® is not permanent. If you do not like the way you look without your dynamic wrinkles, all you need to do is wait six months and the treatment will disappear. However, if you like the new, refreshed and revitalized appearance you have thanks to the procedure, you will simply need to get a touch up treatment at the six-month mark.
As long as it is injected by a trained professional, the chance of having a negative side effect is very rare. BOTOX® is exceptionally safe. Those in generally good health and with realistic expectations typically make good candidates for this treatment. It is good to consult with our medical team if you are using antibiotics or other drugs, as these could interfere with the effect.
