Are sun damage, long forgotten acne scars, large pores, dark spots and/or wrinkles staring back at you when you look at your face in the mirror? Whatever your skin imperfections are and whether they are minor, moderate or somewhat serious, the Fraxel laser may help.
What is the Fraxel Laser?
It is a skin renewal treatment that resurfaces the outer skin by removing imperfections and encouraging the production of collagen, which is a protein located in connective tissue. Collagen helps maintain youthful, healthy-looking, firm skin, but its production rate diminishes as we age, resulting in lines, folds, and wrinkles that are clearly visible.
This is a non-invasive procedure that is performed in the comfort of our office. It creates tiny micro-zones in the dermis, which is the thick inner layer of skin where collagen is produced. The dermis heals itself, and old skin cells are removed and collagen rejuvenation occurs, resulting in enhanced skin tone and elasticity.
Is the Fraxel Laser Safe?
The procedure has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a number of treatments for the face, neck, chest, and hands. It is not the only laser treatment that utilizes this technology to rejuvenate the skin. The main difference is in the wavelength of light emitted during the treatment. This procedure works by treating only a fraction of the area to be targeted for improvement. The adjacent areas are not treated, which means there is a much shorter recovery time. When the laser enters the surface of the skin, it is concentrated on areas below the epidermis.
What are the Benefits?
Just some benefits of this popular laser treatment include the following.
Improves Skin Texture and Evens Out Skin Tone
Most people who have early signs of aging can benefit from Fraxel laser treatments.
Minimizes Acne Scars, Fine Lines and Sun Damage
Issues such as wrinkles around the eyes, fine lines, sunspots, and freckles can all be eliminated or minimized with this laser treatment.
Stimulates Collagen for Firmer, More Youthful-Looking Skin
This laser treatment will boost the production of new collagen that provides a healthier appearance by filling in wrinkles and fine lines.
Minimal Downtime
Fraxel laser resurfacing is less invasive than other forms of skin treatment because it treats only pinpointed areas of the skin and no skin is removed, so there is minimal downtime.
