Acne is a genuine problem that many people struggle with, both young and old. As much as we may like to think that the condition has something to do with puberty and that it ends shortly after this phase of life, that is certainly not always true. Are you struggling with acne and feeling like your skin is at war with you? At Perfect Skin Center, we can treat the condition and any scarring that may come with it, leaving your skin clear and youthful.
There are many different types of acne, and all of them occur for different reasons; this means that the treatment has to be skin deep to address the root problem or else the breakouts will keep on happening. However, as much as the condition occurs for various reasons, it all comes down to dirt, bacteria and dead skin cells clogging the pores.
Inflammatory and Noninflammatory
Sebum is the skin’s natural oil, and considering the body continually sheds dead skin cells, these cells can easily get trapped in the sebum. The combination of sebum and dead skin cells results in noninflammatory acne. These are the small bumps on the skin, and if they remain under the skin, they are whiteheads, but when exposed, they become blackheads. On the other hand, when bacteria are also present with sebum and dead skin cells, the outcome is an inflammation of the skin.
The less common and severest form of inflammatory acne is the cystic type, which is characterized by painful nodules called cysts. Cysts are embedded deep in the skin, which means that the remedies that treat other superficial forms of the condition may fail to work. It is not advisable to wait out the cysts as they can end up affecting large portions of the skin and often leaving scars.
What are the Causes?
Considering there are more than a few different types, there are also multitudes of causes, some known and some unknown. Many factors make people vulnerable to the condition. Some of the well-known reasons behind the condition are hormones, medications, environmental factors, genetics, poor hygiene, and oily beauty products.
