When we make certain facial expressions, the muscles pull the skin in one direction or another. This causes fine lines and creases to appear near the corners of the mouth, near the eyes and on the forehead. How BOTOX® is Administered
We first consult with our client and watch what happens when he or she makes certain facial expressions. This allows us to mark the appropriate injection sites as well as determine the appropriate dosage.
During a typical procedure, the BOTOX® solution is skillfully injected into the preselected areas. We can apply a topical anesthetic to ensure patient comfort during treatment. The treatment session generally takes only about 20 minutes or so.
After Treatment
The full effect of BOTOX® injections takes two or three days. The client can still smile or frown, but the muscles stay relaxed, and the facial skin stays smooth because dynamic wrinkling no longer occurs.
Subsequent treatments can be scheduled about six to nine months apart. The muscles actually become trained to stay relaxed, so further treatments use less and less of the fluid.
