How Long Does Xeomin Last?

When you have cosmetic or medical concerns caused by muscle hyperactivity, you need Xeomin, an injectable muscle relaxant that stands far above the alternatives. That’s why we are proud to offer it at Perfect Skin Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Read on to discover how long the results of this treatment last and a lot more.

How Long Do the Results of Xeomin Last?

How long the results of Xeomin will last depends primarily on how hyperactive your targeted muscles are. Another factor that affects the durability of your results is the health of your skin. Depending on your unique situation, you can expect the results of your treatment to last between a third and half of a year. This contrasts starkly with other injectable muscle relaxants that can only provide results that last two to four months.

Alternative treatments can’t provide results that last as long as this botulinum toxin because they include a complexing protein. The active protein in the injectable is akin to the core of an apple. The complexing proteins present in other injectable muscle relaxants are akin to the flesh and skin of an apple. These extra proteins are useless at best and reduce efficacy at worst.

Will I Develop an Immunity to This Injectable Muscle Relaxant?

No, you will not develop an immunity to this injectable muscle relaxant. What sets Xeomin apart from other injectable muscle relaxants is the lack of unnecessary binding proteins. The results of other treatments don’t last as long because your immune system gets better at recognizing the neurotoxin. You can only expect other treatments to continue benefiting you for roughly half of a decade.

However, your problems won’t disappear after five years of neuromodulator injections. Regular Xeomin treatments will be necessary to fight the ongoing results of aging. Notably, this treatment will continue to be effective for the rest of your life. This treatment remains effective for decades because the neurotoxic protein used is free from complexing proteins. Thus, there is nothing for your body to build up a resistance to.

What Can I Do to Extend the Longevity of My Results?

To prolong the effects of your injection, you must prioritize caring for the health of your skin. If you want to keep your skin healthy, you need to remain hydrated. If you are fairly sedentary, you should drink around half a gallon of hydrating fluid daily. If you are extremely active, you should drink around a gallon of hydrating fluid daily.

Another very important step you can take to care for your skin health is applying sunblock. It is best to wear sunscreen that is as protective as possible. However, it is important to note that people with less melanin need to wear at least a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 55. This should be reapplied every four hours. People with more melanin can maintain the health of their skin by opting for at least an SPF of 30.

How Quickly Will I See My Treatment Results?

Another significant advantage this neuromodulator has over alternatives is how quickly the results become apparent. Other injectable neuromodulators don’t provide results for 10 to 14 days. This treatment, in contrast, reveals ideal results in just one to three days. Thanks to how quickly the results become apparent, you can enjoy ideal results for 2.5 to 4.5 months longer than you could with alternative neuromodulator treatments.

How Many Sessions Are Necessary for Ideal Results?

Your cosmetic goals and facial structure will be evaluated to determine how many injection sessions you will need to get the look you want.  Most people require only one treatment session to achieve their desired goals. Typically, to get the desired effect, 20 units are administered into five carefully selected locations per treatment area. If you are targeting three areas, you may need 20 units of the injectable administered into 15 strategic locations.

How Long Will My Treatment Session Take?

One significant advantage of this injectable neuromodulator is how convenient the treatment is. On average, it only takes around three to five minutes to treat an area of your face.

That said, the length of your treatment session will be determined by what you are trying to treat, how severe the problem is, whether you are trying to treat several problems, how large the area you are treating is, and whether you are treating multiple areas. For example, if you are trying to treat two problem areas, like your nose and forehead, your session could take between six and 10 minutes.

What Happens During an Injection Session?

Your treatment will begin with the sterilization of the areas targeted for treatment. We accomplish this with an alcohol-based cleanser to prevent a bacterial infection. Once that is complete, the most strategic administration sites are marked. Ultimately, the correct dosages are administered into the locations marked. The depth of the injection will depend on your unique needs and facial structure.

Will Xeomin Treatment Hurt?

No, there is nothing painful about this treatment. We use a very fine needle so few people request numbing before the injection session unless they are receiving the injections just above their upper lips.

You will be able to feel the needle puncture your dermis. However, the sensation isn’t painful or uncomfortable. Let us know during your initial consultation if you don’t want to feel anything during your treatment. We will happily accommodate your individual preference.

What Should I Do to Prepare?

Depending on the natural viscosity of your blood, it may be essential to stop taking blood thinners and supplements that may cause blood thinning. For instance, you should avoid such drugs as NSAIDs, corticosteroids, and MAOIs. Nutritional supplements that often cause the thinning of your blood include fatty acids and vitamins C, E, and K.

It is also very important to stop taking garlic supplements for a full week before your scheduled session. Take Arnica supplements the day before your treatment if your blood is naturally thin.

How Long Will My Recovery Process Take?

The recovery process following this treatment is minimal. You may return to leisure activities, work, or school. That said, for the best results, you should refrain from scratching or rubbing the treatment sites for 24 hours.

Despite popular belief, there are no restrictions regarding emoting or lying down. In reality, you are encouraged to continue your usual expression of emotions. For example, you can smile as much as you want if you are treating smile lines. You are invited to frown if you are treating frown lines. The only thing you really need to avoid is heat-based cosmetic treatments.

May I Apply Cosmetics After My Session?

Yes, you may apply cosmetics as soon as your session is over.  Just remember you should avoid rubbing the treatment area too hard for 24 hours. When you remove your cosmetics before bed, do so gently.

If your makeup requires aggressive scrubbing to remove, wait to apply your makeup until 24 hours have passed since your injections. Additionally, you need to ensure you are using a gentle facial cleanser. Don’t try a facial cleanser with a new fragrance that may irritate your skin.

What Areas Can This Neuromodulator Treat?

This muscle relaxant can correct a number of medical and cosmetic concerns. Usually, this injectable muscle relaxant is used to target neck fat bands, nasolabial folds, vertical forehead folds, upper forehead folds, crow’s feet, and chin contours.  Nevertheless, it can also correct concerns around the mouth, including laugh lines, smile lines, and smoker’s lines.

Vertical Forehead Folds

Vertical forehead folds are deep folds that worsen when your eyebrows are furrowed. These folds are sometimes referred to as glabellar lines or frown lines. These lines are treated by injecting the muscle relaxant above and across your brow line.

Upper Forehead Folds

Upper forehead folds are similar to vertical forehead folds in that they are incredibly deep. However, these lines develop horizontally along the top of your forehead. These lines occur after years of raising your eyebrows. These lines are treated by injecting the neurotoxin at the deepest, most prominent parts of the lines. Vertical and upper forehead folds often develop together and can be treated at the same time conveniently.

Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet are a very popular treatment area because the skin around your eyes is particularly thin. Crow’s feet begin at the outer corners of your eyes and branch upwards towards your hairline. These lines develop due to squinting and smiling. These wrinkles are treated by administering injections into the outer corners of the eyes.

Other Aesthetic Concerns

This injectable muscle relaxant is also used to erase smile lines that form around the outer corners of your mouth and the deep nasolabial folds that extend vertically from your nose to your mouth.

Additionally, people seek this treatment to minimize necklines that increase the femininity or masculinity of your jawline and make your chin look more contoured. Finally, this treatment may be used to lift the eyebrows non-invasively. Instead of lifting loose, sagging skin, it lifts and firms sagging, loose muscles.

Is Xeomin Treatment Right for Me?

You need to come in for an initial evaluation to know definitively whether this is the right treatment for you. Typically, you will be considered a good candidate if you are at least 18 years of age and want to erase moderate-to-severe folds and wrinkles that are exacerbated by facial expressions.

Additionally, you must have realistic expectations about the effects of the treatment. We will advise you on the results you can expect realistically once we have assessed your facial structure and discussed your cosmetic goals thoroughly.

Will Xeomin Treatment Be Effective if Other Neuromodulators Aren’t?

Yes, this treatment will be effective if other neuromodulators are no longer effective or have never worked for you. You can feel particularly confident this neuromodulator will work for you if another neuromodulator worked for you in the past.

This indicates your wrinkles are caused by muscle hyperactivity rather than volume loss. Remember, other neuromodulators lose efficacy over time because your immune system becomes very good at recognizing the binding proteins used in the manufacturing of the other neuromodulators and mounting a rapid defense.
