Platelet-rich plasma is a treatment that contains a concentrated amount of platelets in a small amount of plasma. The platelets contain growth factors that help regenerate and repair damaged tissues and help encourage the healing process. PRP is made from each patient’s own platelets. We will draw a small amount of your blood and separate it in a centrifuge. Once the plasma and platelets have been separated, we will inject the solution directly into the designated treatment area. Because PRP is made from your own plasma and platelets, there is very little risk of an adverse reaction to this restoration treatment.
How can PRP therapy be used for hair restoration?
The platelets found in PRP therapy contain growth factors that encourage the regrowth of damaged hair follicles and the thickening of the hair. This treatment helps replenish blood supply and nutrients the hair follicles need to function and can result in thicker, fuller, hair regrowth. Results of this hair restoration treatment can be comparable to hair transplants.

- Minimally-invasive
- No downtime
- Lasting results
When will I see results?
PRP hair restoration works to repair and regenerate damaged hair follicles to restore hair growth for fuller, thicker, healthier hair. The results of this treatment develop gradually and most patients begin to see visible improvement in the treated are approximately three to six months after their treatment session. Multiple treatment sessions may be required in order to achieve optimal results. Results may vary.
How many treatments will I need?
Our PRP hair restoration treatments usually begin with a series of three treatment sessions scheduled about six to eight weeks apart. After the initial treatment, we will assess your hair regrowth and determine if you need additional follow-up treatments.
Is there any downtime?
PRP hair restoration treatments have no downtime associated with them and many patients are able to return to their normal activities after their treatment session. Some patients might experience mild scalp tenderness for the first few days after their PRP hair restoration treatment. Any discomfort you may experience can typically be managed with over-the-counter pain medication and ice packs. Patients should avoid using any hair dyes or chemicals on their hair for at least 48 hours after their treatment session.
Am I a candidate?
Men and women who have fine hair, are experiencing a thinning of their hair, or have alopecia are potential candidates for this hair restoration treatment. Patients who have experienced a complete loss of hair follicles are less likely to benefit from PRP treatments and may need to consider another form of hair restoration. Prior to your treatment, we will review the severity of hair loss and your goals of treatment and determine if PRP therapy is the right hair restoration treatment for you.
